Đây thôn Vĩ Dạ – This Is A Village Called Vy Da

Đây thôn Vĩ Dạ

Sao anh không về chơi thôn Vĩ? Nhìn nắng hàng cau nắng mới lên.
Vườn ai mướt quá, xanh như ngọc
Lá trúc che ngang mặt chữ điền.

Gió theo lối gió, mây đường mây,
Dòng nước buồn thiu, hoa bắp lay…
Thuyền ai đậu bến sông trăng đó,
Có chở trăng về kịp tối nay?

Mơ khách đường xa, khách đường xa,
Áo em trắng quá nhìn không ra…
Ở đây sương khói mờ nhân ảnh,
Ai biết tình ai có đậm đà?

(English Version)

This is a village called Vy Da

What about visiting the village of Vy?
To witness the sunrise on the Areca trees.
Someone’s garden is very tranquil, jade-green.
Bamboo leaves obscure the square garden.

The wind blows with the wind; the clouds follow the clouds.
The water flows sadly; the cornflowers are swaying.
The boat of someone moored on this river of the moon,
Will it be able to bring the moon back in time tonight?

Dreaming of guests from afar, guests from afar.
Your clothes are too white to ascertain…
The fog here is too much to blur the faces of people.
Does someone know whose passionate love is?

Đặng Hoàng Lan Translated From The Poem “Đây thôn Vỹ Dạ” Of Hàn Mặc Tử.
