Đặt giường thất bảo, vây màn bát tiên.
Trai anh hùng, gái thuyền quyên,
Phỉ nguyền sánh phượng, đẹp duyên cưỡi rồng.
Nửa năm hương lửa đương nồng,
Trượng phu thoắt đã động lòng bốn phương.

2215.
Trông vời trời bể mênh mang,
Thanh gươm, yên ngựa lên đàng thẳng rong.
Nàng rằng: “Phận gái chữ tòng,
Chàng đi thiếp cũng quyết lòng xin đi”.
Từ rằng: “Tâm phúc tương tri,

2220.
Sao chưa thoát khỏi nữ nhi thường tình?
Bao giờ mười vạn tinh binh,
Tiếng loa dậy đất, bóng tinh rợp đường
Làm cho rõ mặt phi tường,
Bấy giờ ta sẽ rước nàng nghi gia.

2225.
Bằng nay bốn bể không nhà,
Theo càng thêm bận, biết là đi đâu?
Đành lòng chờ đó ít lâu,
Chầy chăng là một năm sau vội gì?”
Quyết lời dứt áo ra đi,

2230.
Cánh bằng tiện gió cất lìa dậm khơi.
Nàng thì chiếc bóng song mai,
Đêm thâu đằng đẵng, nhặt cài then mây.
Sân rêu chẳng vẽ dấu giầy,
Cỏ cao hơn thước, liễu gầy vài phân.

2235.
Đoái trông muôn dặm tử phần,
Hồn quê, theo ngọn mây Tần xa xa;
Xót thay huyên cỗi xuân già,
Tấm lòng thương nhớ, biết là có nguôi?
Chốc là mười mấy năm trời,

2240.
Còn ra khi đã da mồi tóc sương.
Tiếc thay chút nghĩa cũ càng,
Dẫu lìa ngó ý còn vương tơ lòng.
Duyên em dầu nối chỉ hồng,
May ra khi đã tay bồng tay mang.

2210. In which he placed a sumptuous bed and a curtain adorned with the gods.
Heroes and beauty go hand in hand.

Staring at the distant sea and the vast sky,
So he rode his horse with a sword and rode forward.

When thousands of soldiers are in my hands,

When I return triumphantly in a blaze of glory,
I shall bring you home to live within the happy end.

I don’t belong to anywhere anymore.
Being on the side only brings trouble and where we’ll go.
Now, just wait patiently,
I will be back within one year”.

2230. The wind let the eagle soar on a journey of miles.
Sitting next to the window beneath the apricot,
Kieu spent long solitary nights behind closed doors.
There were no human footprints in the moss garden,
Where the grass grew and the willow thinned.

2235.
Looking across space to see the catalpas and elms,
Kieu sent her soul along with white clouds to her hometown.
She was sorry for her elderly parents:
Can the passage of time ease their sorrow?
It’s been more than a decade since then,

2240. If they were still alive, they’d be wrinkled with gray hair by then.
Oh! So how she cried for her former lover!
Kieu’s heart was still tangled in a string of a broken lotus stem.
If her sister tied the knot of marriage with him,
Possibly for the time being they had a lot of children.
