Trường Làng Tôi – My Village School

Trường Làng Tôi

Phạm Trọng Cẩu

Trường làng tôi cây xanh lá vây quanh
Muôn chim hót vang lên êm đềm.
Lên trường tôi, con đê bé xinh xinh
Len qua đám cây xanh nhẹ lướt.

Trường làng tôi hai gian lá đơn sơ
Che trên miếng sân vuông mơ màng.
Trường làng tôi không giây phút tôi quên
Nơi sống bao kỷ niệm ngày xanh.

ĐK:
Nơi sống bao mái đầu xanh màu
Đời tươi như bao lá xanh, lá xanh
Theo tháng ngày chiến cuộc lan tràn
Qua xóm thôn nát ngôi trường xưa

Không bóng hình bao trẻ nô đùa,
Cùng nhau vang hát khúc ca vô tư
Mơ đến ngày nước non thanh bình
Trong thôn xóm ấm ngôi trường xưa

Trường làng tôi nay vang tiếng ê a,
Nay in bóng bao em nô đùa
Trường làng tôi không giây phút tôi quên
Dù cách xa muôn trùng trường ơi.

(English Version)

My Village School

My village school was set amongst a grove full of green trees.
The birds would serenade us with their fanciful songs,
On the way to school, a pretty little stream,
Was winding lazily through lush green plants.

My village school had two simple rooms with a thatched roof,
And it was surrounded by sleepy little patch of garden.
I will never forget the moments I spent in my village school,
And I will always treasure those precious childhood memories.

In my village school where many youths grew up,
Life was beautiful like many green leaves, green leaves.
But the day the war spread throughout the countryside,
The rural village and my old school were destroyed.

There were no longer children playing in the garden,
No more innocent voices chanting childhood rhymes.
We dreamed of the day peace would come to our home,
Cradling our village and my old school in warmth.

Now my village school is brimming with the voices of young scholars.
And there are once again children playing in the garden.
I will never forget the moments I spent in my village school.
Even when I am very far away. Oh! my village school.

Đặng Hoàng Lan Translated From The Song “Trường Làng Tôi” Of Musician Phạm Trọng Cầu.
